Olivia Hicolaou is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist. Rooted in traditional sensuality and ritual, and leaning heavily on surrealist notions of the human figure, her work spans performance, sculpture, textiles, poetry, and abstract film. She uses these various media to explore porosity, concealment, submersion, and self-evacuation. Having roots in dance and film photography, she started her formal visual arts practice in Chicago. And she has since had works featured at the Agitator Gallery, and Womanmade Gallery in Chicago, IL, and Brooklyn Waterfront Artist’s Coalition, Alterwork Studios, and Carrie Able Gallery in New York City. She has also performed in various venues in New York City and beyond, including Gibney Dance Center, Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Bogart House, Le Piano, Gonzo Studios, Vivid Cabaret, Ayamonte Guadalajara, and Beckett’s Literary Salon.
